Kansas Municipal Energy Agency (KMEA)

KMEA is a municipal energy agency formed by the state of Kansas over 30 years ago for the purpose of planning, financing, constructing, acquiring and delivering reliable and economical electricity to its members. The Agency is made up of 77 municipal member cities. In 2014, KMEA will deliver approximately 1,736,045 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity through agency projects that include three KMEA EMP groups, GRDA, Nearman, SWPA and WAPA. The mission of the agency is to provide reliable economic electric services to its members through strong market and public power relationships. KMEA is based in Overland Park, Kansas.
   

   


       

Kansas Power Pool (KPP)

KPP is a municipal energy agency created in 2005 by the state of Kansas. The agency is comprised of 31 Kansas municipal electric utilities, including 23 who take wholesale electric power and transmission servicesthrough KPP.  KPP provides its members with a pooling of generating resources and provides collective resource planning for current operations and future resources to meet system growth. Through the upcoming peak season, KPP will provide its members approximately 220 megawatts (MW) of power. KPP is located in Wichita, Kansas.
