All personnel who are directly involved in the operation and maintenance of chlorination systems shall be properly trained. Kansas Municipal Utilities and Brenntag are pleased to offer this Chlorine Safety Training to water and wastewater systems and others who are involved or are interested in learning more about chlorine safety.

Exposure to concentrated amounts of chlorine can be toxic and cause irritation to the skin, eyes, nose, and mucous membranes. Chlorine need not be a serious hazard if the people working with it are properly trained in its handling. Safety in handling chlorine depends on the effectiveness of employee training, proper safety instructions, and the use of suitable equipment.

It is the responsibility of the employer to provide training to employees. It is the responsibility of employees to carry out correct operating procedures safely and to properly use the safety equipment provided.
