Asset Management for Utilities (A.M. Kan Work!)
JUNE 1-4, 2020 | 12 - 1:15 p.m.

In the coming years, water and wastewater utilities will need to implement new administrative systems and management tools to allow them to adapt to increased regulatory requirements and environmental complexities. A.M. KAN WORK! is one of the “new” tools to help communities address:

• new and stricter regulatory requirements
• population changes
• service demands
• limited water supplies
• variable climate conditions
• aging infrastructure
• increased energy costs
• limited state and federal funding

This workshop can assist your utility system in defining the investment priorities for the level of service expected by your customers. Asset management provides the tools needed to actively and consistently analyze current operations and future needs to develop robust management systems and well-designed infrastructure plans to meet the increasing challenges.

Water and wastewater operators can receive 5 hours of certification credit for attending this online workshop. (Attendees must attend all four sessions to receive hours.)

More About This Training

This online training is being conducted by WSU Environmental Finance Center in partnership with Kansas Municipal Utilities as a pilot for virtual training that offers water and wastewater operator credit.

KDHE has received numerous requests for approval of CEUs for online/virtual training for water and wastewater operators. Historically, KDHE has only approved CEUs for in-person training. This pilot training will serve as a test to determine if continued virtual training is in the best interests of the operator certification program and the regulated community.

Participation Details & Requirements:
• This pilot training will be conducted via Zoom meetings. Registrants will be emailed the secure meeting link, password and instructions to access the training after registering.

• Pilot sessions will be limited to no more than 15 participants.

• Trainers must provide the list of all participants (including contact information) to KDHE and certify they were “online” for the entire duration of training session.

• KDHE staff will participate/monitor sessions for evaluation purposes.

All attendees are required to have a web camera, and a computer microphone or telephone on during the training for interactive participation.
