Water Plant Operator I

The City of Ottawa, Kansas is recruiting for a Water Plant Operator I. Under the supervision of the Water Plant Superintendent, the Water Plant Operator I performs skilled and semi-skilled work in connection with water pumping and filtration in order to provide the City of Ottawa with safe potable water. The employee in this position is responsible for operating water treatment equipment on an assigned shift, collecting and testing water samples, recording data, adjusting chemical feed equipment for proper operation, and performing general maintenance of the Water Plant to meet all requirements of the Kansas Departments of Health and Environment. Kansas Department of Health and Environment Certification is required.

Assistant Plant Superintendent

Leavenworth Waterworks is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Plant Superintendent. Under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent, responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance of the water treatment system and assigned personnel; inspects and performs repair work on water system facilities and equipment; monitors and maintains water sources, storage tanks, keeps various records pertaining to plant operations.


The position requires 4+ years’ experience in the Water Treatment field. Supervisory experience preferred.
The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED; AS or BS in Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred.
Additional requirements include possession of a valid Grade IV Kansas Water Certificate. Ability to attend continuing education classes every two years – 10 hours of water related courses necessary to keep license valid. Be on call at all hours for emergency situations. A background check, drug screen, and physical capacity profile are required of the selected applicant before a final job offer.


Salary range is $54,000 to $70,000 plus benefits.

Water Treatment Operator

Leavenworth Waterworks is accepting applications for the position of Water Treatment Operator. Work involves responsibility for the correct operation of a 6 MGD lime softening water treatment plant. The position checks operating conditions, registers and interprets meter and gauge readings, performs basic water testing at various stages of plant processes, makes equipment and chemical feed adjustments on the tests and interpretations of the process. Position is subject to shift and weekend work, as assigned.
Applicants must possess a valid drivers' license and high school diploma or GED. A background check, drug screen, and physical capacity profile are required of the selected applicant before a final job offer.


Salary range for entry level applicants is $30,000 - $32,500 plus excellent benefits

Experience licensed operators may be hired at a range up to $42,000 - $58,000 DOQ

Electric Utility Lineman

The City of Lindsborg is currently accepting applications for the position of Electrical Maintenance Worker II. Applicants should have an advanced knowledge of the operation and maintenance of high-voltage distribution systems and safety procedures with at least 8 years of hands on experience. The candidate must have a high school diploma/GED and a Class A Kansas CDL is required. Having a Journeyman Lineman Certificate is preferred but not required.

The electric department is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the electric distribution system and operation of the electric substation. Other duties are but not limited to, trimming of trees, maintaining banners, festival setup, assist with snow removal as well as assisting other City Departments as needed.

Electric Lineperson

The City of Norton, Kansas is accepting applications for the position of Electric Lineperson. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of electric distribution system with ability to perform heavy manual labor and operate motorized equipment. Also performs the more complex and hazardous lineman duties under a minimum amount of supervision.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in electric line construction and maintenance, or 2 years’ experience with a qualified lineman’s school diploma. A Kansas Driver’s License is required and must possess a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of hire date.

Stormwater Management Coordinator / GIS Technician

The City of Ottawa, Kansas is recruiting for a Stormwater Management Coordinator/GIS Technician. The Stormwater Management Coordinator/GIS Technician is primarily responsible for providing inspection, technical assistance and municipal code enforcement. The duties include development, administration and enforcement of the City Stormwater Management Program/Plan, including the education of the public, discharge investigation, compliance tracking and reporting. Other responsibilities include updating and maintaining the city’s GIS mapping software and obtaining GIS points using associated equipment.
