Mask Requests

Face Masks for Essential Workers in Kansas Water and Wastewater Utilities:

Through a cooperative effort with FEMA and USEPA, all Kansas water and wastewater utility essential staff members are eligible to receive up to five (5) free reusable cloth masks per full-time employee.

Due to the high demand for face masks in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, this effort is being made to provide as many masks as possible to front-line water and wastewater utility staff members in need. These cloth masks (not considered Personal Protective Equipment), are washable and reusable up to 15 times. Provided to utilities by FEMA and USEPA, these masks are intended for essential full-time utility staff.

This offer is eligible to water AND wastewater utilities. If your system has only one utility, please complete the request form for your corresponding utility. If your system has BOTH water and wastewater utilities, please submit ONE request only for both your water and wastewater utilities combined. Each utility that is represented in the request will be required to provide either or both the Public Water Supply ID and/or the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System numbers.

Face Masks for Essential Workers in Kansas Electric and Gas Utilities:

KMU has learned that the Kansas Division of Emergency Management received 6,000 cotton face masks to be distributed to “essential” works in Electric and Gas Utilities. KMU has been asked to assess the need for this type of facial protection for municipal utilities. If your electric or natural gas utility has had difficulty in obtaining any kind of facial masks for your workers and are interested in the possibility of receiving this type of cotton face mask this could be an option. Those utilities that might be interested in receiving this type of mask, we will need a contact person, number of essential workers in the utility, and the number of masks that are being requested. There has been some indication that smaller utilities could have first option to receive the masks. Please submit your request as soon as possible, since there is no guarantee of receiving the requested masks with the limited numbers.

If you are interested in this type of mask, please complete the survey information at the following link:

Please complete the survey as soon as possible. We plan to submit the requests at the beginning of the week of May 11, 2020.
